dv9700z PIONEER DVDRW DVR-K17B

I have dv9700z. My operating system is Windows XP Professional 64 Bit.My dvd driver is PIONEER DVDRW DVR-K17B. It was working fine. Suddenly it stopped recognizing blank cd and dvd's. When I try to access it when there is a blank cd/dvd it gives following error message: Please insert a disk into drive f:\... Would you help me solve this problem? Thanks in advance...

No it did not help. However, driver gives another error message now. The message is "F:\ is not accessible. Incorrect function."

Re: dv9700z PIONEER DVDRW DVR-K17B

Before my driver is broken i was using PowerISO. Then i uninstalled it. I thought it might cause the problem. However, I was using it without any problem before. Uninstallation did not solve my problem. Afterwards, I formatted my computer and installed Windows XP Professional 64 bit. However, the same problem remained. I am trying to find an updated firmware but I couldn't find it. I believe finding a firmware might solve the problem.

XP BIOS for your system (32bit) http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareList?os=228&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&product=3650968&lang=en  You will have to contact HP to see if they have updated firmware.

Re: dv9700z PIONEER DVDRW DVR-K17B

I have contacted HP. They did not give me updated BIOS. They provided some suggestions. Now my dvd cannot read anything. It was only not reading blank dvd's now it is much worse. Thanks HP...

Re: dv9700z PIONEER DVDRW DVR-K17B

Do you have your system backed up?  If so, see if you can use your restore cds/dvds to restore your machine.  If it can be read through DOS then it is something in your hive that is causing the issue.

I do not have system backup. However, I have only backup of my documents. By the way, dvd is reading through DOS.

I have interesting information to share. I installed CDBurnerXP. It can read dvd's. I can even burn dvd's with it. But still windows cannot read dvd's. It gives following error message: F:\ is not accessible. Incorrect function.
