windows 7 x 64 cannot install ie 10, error code 9c59 - making me crazy

I have been trying to install the update ie 10 and keep getting the code 9c59.  Tried to force install from web site and the installtion would not complete.  I cannot access internet options in my control panel to try and reset ie 9 - so something is missing.  Tried the ms fix and it didn't help.  checked my updates for windows 7 sp1 - all updates are installed.  I cannot access my ie 9, the screen is blank except for the address bar, the tools etc buttons do not function, and the pop up window says internet explorer has stopped working (however, if I enter something into the address bar it will go to the web site)  -   I was in hopes that the ie 10 install would fix these problems, but I can't get that to install.  The microsoft support site has not had one suggestion that cured the problems.  I have been trying to fix ie 9 for months.  I have other bowsers, but my remote viewer for my cctv only works on ie (needs activex) Help.

Yes, I tried that - thanks for the suggestion.  When I searched for info regarding the error code: 9c59 (unknown error), I see there are alot of people in my situation - no solution, for me anyway.

Re: windows 7 x 64 cannot install ie 10, error code 9c59 - making me crazy

Now, you could try to analyze the windows' event viewer, to see, if before or after the error "9c59", there are some applications or drivers that cause strange errors

Re: windows 7 x 64 cannot install ie 10, error code 9c59 - making me crazy

The event viewer was interesting.  In the setup catagory, I found another error code for the failed install of ie10 and that gave me gave me a whole new set of posiible solutions, which I did follow.  I now feel like I'm going in circles!  I believe that there must be a conflict with something there is no solution for yet.  I was able to install all the updates for ie9 right up to the ie10 update and now that's not working.  Hopefully a solutions will be in my future - or I could just throw this notebook in  the lake........I appreciate your help.

Re: windows 7 x 64 cannot install ie 10, error code 9c59 - making me crazy

Can I add my name to this annoying problem. IE9 continues to work but have now tried 9 times to install this from various routes all without success and have used the troubleshooting tool and apart from "fixing" some things it makes no difference at all when trying to install IE10.

[ Edited ]

Ok, can you try this hotfix:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971058

If don't work try this:

to Start > Run > services.msc (run Windows Service)

- stop Windows Update service

- delete contents in %systemroot%\SoftwareDistribution, both folders Datastore and download

- restart the service

I hope this fix work on your system

Re: windows 7 x 64 cannot install ie 10, error code 9c59 - making me crazy

I have  tried these fixes before, but I did try them again today and they do not work.  In my many travels looking for a solution, I keep seeing comments regarding the graphics card and that ie 10 will not install on some hybrid graphic card systems ( used on a lot of laptops ) and that it is a known problem  - when a solution is found it will present itself as an update.

Thank you for all your help.
