I bought this notebook two months ago at the beginning of the college term, and from the very first startup it ran awfully. Now I am 2 days away from my English Thesis being due, it is halfway written, on a USB stick. Meanwhile, my laptop became worse and worse until I finally ordered the disks to restore it. Once the hard drive was formatted, and the OS was reinstalled, I got the error: "[205] UIA write failed 3 times", this has happened 4 times. Now I have to send the notebook back to HP to have it repaired, and my final paper wont be finished, leaving me to fail the class, and lose my financial aid, meaning I'll have to drop out. Thank you so much, HP. I really appreciate your terrible service.

Your laptop must have come with a D: RECOVERY drive. Turn on your laptop and keep pressing F11 until it loads System Recovery. Once you are in there, do a Minimal Install or Restore to Factory Settings to have it the way it was when you bought it.

P.S. You should use the university's computer lab or borrow your friend's PC to finish that thesis.

Did you solve this in the end? I have pretty much the same problem (with a slightly different Pavillion). 

I have tried to recover from the recovery partition, and from the DVDs I made when first getting the computer, but every time it says "UIA Write FAILed three times"
