ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4200 XP Drivers

Where can I download the XP drivers for the ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4200?

I understand the mobility modder is needed but I tried with 10-2_xp32_dd_ccc_wdm_enu.exe and it did not work. I am familiar with modifying nvidia drivers with a different .inf and I understand this is sort of the same process, just automated. The problem is I don't think I have the correct drivers to begin modifying.

This is for a Presario CQ61-429US. XP Pro 32-bit.

Please help ASAP

Try Part B (if you have XP 32bit) of the Guide HERE Mobility Modder seems to have problems with Radeon 4200.

this fixed my problem on the CQ61-403SA bought from Tesco Direct with win7 which i downgraded to XP.

i modded this file and then quite literally went to device manager, sought out the generic VGA driver and updated that driver by pointing it to the modded folder.

I had almost the same problem (same graphic card, same OS but on an ASUS notebook).

I've downloaded the file linked above but I don't know how to update the drivers.

Can you help me please?

Thank you for the fast response - despite long time from the last activity of this thread.

In the tutorial you've suggested there's 2 parts: using automatic installers, and installing manually.

Automatic installer I could find is of no use. It does nothing. I guess you have had the same problem (in your fist post).

I donwnloaded the file you had found then.If you remember there are 4 folder in it: vista or xp, amd64 or x86.

And in each folder there are several drivers.I followed instructions  to install a driver from suitable folder manually but windows doesn't recognize any of them as a valid driver.

So I guessed you've installed drivers by another non-usual procedure.

Something like what chunwah74 says: "i modded this file ..."

FIXED!

Windows itself has the driver.

When I was playing with the file and driver update procedure of windows, I selected "don't search. I will choose the driver to insatll" and windows had a driver for "ati radeon hd 4200". I chose it and insatlled it despite of windows warnings (which said it is not a suitable driver).

Now I have a good looking screen!
