Alternative methods of backing up

Hello,

Is there a way to same program settings when you can't do a system back up?

I have to use a system recovery DVD on my HP Pavilion G Series.

I can't do a system restore. I can't back up my files to DVD. None of these things work. So I've had to order System Recovery DVDs.

HOWEVER, I really don't want to lose all my settings. I guess that the way that Outlook is configured is the biggest thing. But there are also many other aps and programs on my HP and re-tailoring all of them is going to take hours.

Is there a way to export all of my settings in one hit? Obviously I can't back up to DVD through the normal Windows process - but is there another way? An on-line program? Or an alternative back up system to the one that Windows 7 provides?

Many thanks for any help.

Re: Alternative methods of backing up

Hello Boganlover:
I am not an expert in this feild but I know first hand Iyogi.com technicians can help you recover fix or do anything every thing for your computer. One Technicians accidentally deleted all kinds files by mistake I mean operating files not just programs. To the point my HP DV7-6135dx would not start up. I could only get it started in safe mode after several attemps faild. Called them right back for next 6-8 hours another technicians restored every missing file and fixed up what he mess up on. She downloaded a program that recovered missing files..I do not know how External drivers work you might want to ask a computer technicians on how they work as a back up device. If they can store programs on it and settings as well.

Hey thanks for this...but are you sure about that site? My computer is blocking it. The WOT (web of trust) gives it really bad safety ratings...
