Appears every time laptop switched on .....?

Without fail on my mothers recently bought hp compaq , the message reads .... Microsoft Visual C ++ Runtime Library
This applicationhas requested the Runtime to termintae it in an unusual way.
Please contact the applications support team for more information.
can anyone tell me how to get rid of this please? ... we'd be very grateful, or point us in the right direction.

Thank you for assistance , but unfortunately the resetting of explorer did not solve the problem ..... any more suggestions would be gratefully received ! .... the message occurs everytime the pc is switched on, it appers on the screen immediately.

Follow the instructions in the following link

Download the applicable hotfix for you. Incase this hotfix does not work
You can uninstall the internet explorer by following the link
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/957700#stepsforwin
and install IE 9 from the below link:
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/how-do

Does it actually matter???? also this particular error is mostly found in XP systems ![]()

Op said "recently bought HP" I assume it has W7, unless it was bought used.

Hmmm Thts true but the hotfix is for a .dll file should not matter if the OS is XP or Win 7. Hence informed op to apply the hotfix.

Hotfixes are not cross platform unless the hotfix specifically states it is, which this one does not.
Its the wrong hotfix for Windows 7, it would not install anyway so they are safe.
