Hello,
My ProBook 4730s has really awful sound quality. If I try to listen to music (e.g. mp3 through Windows Media Player) there is a lot of distortion and weird wishy-washy noises over the top meaning that you can hardly hear the music. These files sound fine from my other laptop. I also have the same problem with the sound from YouTube clips and other websites.
I only listen using my headphones (connected through the jack on the front left of the laptop (I have also tested the headphones independently of the laptop - they're fine). I have right-clicked the volume control and clicked "Playback Devices". On the "Advanced Tab" I have selected "2 channel 24 bit 192000 Hz (Studio Quality)" and the "Test" button sounds fine. On the "General" tab, the controller information says "IDT High definition Audio CODEC". The IDT driver version number is 6.10.6341.0.
Is there anything else I can check or change? Thanks,
Tom
