Blue color message while starting the Laptop

I bought HP pavillion dv6000 laptop with vista operating system in 2007. After 6 months I chaged to XP operating system. Now while starting my laptop, after sometime one blue color message is coming and immediately going to shutdown. Is problem in OS? If problem is in OS, Can I reload the XP?
