Blue screen when try to downgrade dv 4 1120us to XP

Hi, everyone.

I owned a HP dv 4 1120us notebook. I encountered the blue screen everytime when I try to downgrade the Vista Home Premium system to XP. The blue screen said that I need to unistall any hard driver controller.  I have tried many time, and it is still giving me this error. I even tried to make the notebook as a dual-boot system, however, the computer will not let me install.

Please Help!!!

Your HP notebook is designed and certified to run Windows Vista and not the old Winsows XP operating system.

Re: Blue screen when try to downgrade dv 4 1120us to XP

Thanks for your reply, cnfrish!

I understand that it is designed and certified to run Vista. But, I have seen people downgrade the system to XP (in this forum, there are some threads about it). It is just that I do not know how to and I can not figure out what the problem is.

Do you know if there is anyway that I can just format the drive completely, and install a fresh copy of XP?

Thanks for your help!

Re: Blue screen when try to downgrade dv 4 1120us to XP

Hi forgotten

I installed XP on a dv4 and many other Pavilion/Presario. it's my preferred hobby.

I want to tell you that some part are not working perfectly because XP is not supported.

The quickPlay button wil not work

Some function key will not work (for example you cannot change the display brightness usig nfunction keys)

The first step you have to do is to integrate the disk controller into Windows XP cd using the software nlite from nliteos.com.

If you don't know hoe to use nlite, you can see a small movie here http://www.filecloud.com/user/files.php?category_id=283210

I already posted the driver list and some instruction here http://h30434.www3.hp.com/psg/board/message?board.id=OS&thread.id=26

Ciao

Same system here with the same problem.  Where do we find the disk controller for the intergrated XP Pro disc?  Is it on the HP system?  Thanks answertome!  Keep up the good work!

Re: Blue screen when try to downgrade dv 4 1120us to XP

Hi Answertome,

I have a dv4-1125nr and could not make my wifi and sound work.I checked the list of drivers that you posted, but my dv4-1125nr uses Broadcom 802.11 b/g WLAN and not Intel. Do you know how to make it work?

Also, my Realtek Adapter is RTL8102 - do you know if the 8168 file will work?

Thank you.

[ Edited ]

Use the SATA guide to be sure you are using the correct hdd controller driver. Part 3 of the XP Downgrade Guide HERE should also prove helpful..SATA and other drivers listed there.
