Bluetooth device not getting detected after clean vista ultimate install on G60-120US

Hello.

I have recently purchased a HP notebook with Vista Home premium factory installed. The bluetooth device was working properly as it was supposed to at that time.

Then afterwards, I formatted the drive, created partitions, and installed Vista Ultimate. Since that time I have not been able to install drivers/software for bluetooth on the notebook. Upon installing drivers, it says "Bluetooth device not connected. Please make sure that it is connected properly in order to continue installation".

Looks like entire Internet is filled up with this clean install problem. Can someone tell me how to get it working?

Thanks,

Carla

The only thing I could recommend for this issue(outside of changing the OS that came with the machine) is to try updating the system BIOS. Please reply if this gives a positive result.

Hi Proffian,

I have already upgraded the bios using winflash utility. It is 2.5 right now.

Thanks,

Re: Bluetooth device not getting detected after clean vista ultimate install on G60-120US

Ok when you get the notebook with a preinstalled version of windows it comes with all of the correct device drivers. When you installed a fresh copy of vista ultimate it requires different drivers. One of course because thats a 64 bit os and premium may not have been. This means that what you will need to do is go to the manufactures website of the bluetooth card and download the 64 bit vista drivers and run those. That should get it to a functioning state that you can troubleshoot.

Carla,

as dakotahpsupport is talking about 64-bit: Which version of Ulimtae do you have installed?

Re: Bluetooth device not getting detected after clean vista ultimate install on G60-120US

Try installing HP Wireless Assistant  and see if it can Enable bluetooth:

Re: Bluetooth device not getting detected after clean vista ultimate install on G60-120US

The Vista Ultimate installation is 32 bit. I tried installing Wireless Assistant & 64 bit drivers for bluetooth, but none of the idea worked. What extra could have gone wrong? Please help.

Re: Bluetooth device not getting detected after clean vista ultimate install on G60-120US

1.) Which drivers did you install (exactly, SP-Nr.)?

64-bit drivers will not work.

2.) Does Bluetooth show up in the Device Manager?

3.) Is Bluettoth enabled in the BIOS?

4.) Does your machine have a button/switch for enabling WLAN and Bluetooth?

Are you using Vista 32 bit drivers posted on your models page>>starting with Nvidia Chipset first?

Re: Bluetooth device not getting detected after clean vista ultimate install on G60-120US

My 64-bit Vista system seems to have a problem with the Vista side.  You may be experiencing the same problem.  As you stated, it was working so the hardware and BIOS are not a problem.  It may be something in Vista that Microsoft has decided we should not do.  I am still looking for easy solution.  But you should look in your Device drivers to see if it is present.  Look under Bluetooth and Unknown.

I get the same warning about "Bluetooth device not connected. Please make sure that it is connected properly in order to continue installation", but I know it is plugged in and working as I have some functionality, but I cannot access A2DP as I did in XP.
