COMPAQ - Presario CQ56-206SA

I'm a Silver Surfer and I recently bought a COMPAQ - Presario CQ56-206SA 15.6" Laptop.

The mouse keys are very difficult to operate. I end up putting my laptop down when I'm unable to continue, due to ache caused by the effort needed to operate the keys.

With my old laptop, more than 50% of my use was to while away the time, playing card games like Freecell. I've been robbed of that pleasure now.

Can anyone help?

You can't do anything about the buttons, so the only alternative is a USB wireless mouse. You will have to get a dongle for the USB port, but it will come with that. Better models will have software where you can program the buttons, Logitech makes some nice ones.

You can also use a Bluetooth mouse with a Bluetooth dongle, but they can be problematic at times, it's best to stick with the wireless USB interface.

Ounce you get used to the mouse you will wonder how you ever got by with the touch pad. You can sit there and play for hours with a mouse and mouse pad on your lap.

Thank you for taking the time out to offer your solution.

The store had suggested this, but I felt that I shouldn't have to buy a mouse for a brand new laptop, that should be fit for purpose. I guess I'm shafted!

Thanks again!

That's really the only solution really and they are only around 30 dollars on line. I suppose if you gave the store enough grief they may allow you to return the laptop, or give you a free mouse.

 Thanks for the kudos.

A little more money here, and we use £s. I'm in Wales, and had assumed that you were in Scotland! :smileyhappy:

No, I am in Canada. :smileyhappy: I always found it unbelievable how expensive electronics are over there. :smileysurprised:

Try this : Your pound will go allot farther against the US dollars too.

Here is where I got that from :

There is much to sift through, but there are some good deals to be had.

Some of them are not too badly priced. I don't know what's expensive for you, but buying on line is always less expensive then a retail store.

Oh Canada, Eh? LIved there from '78 - '83, before going to Oz for 15 years.

I really miss those Looooong, Coooold Winters!  NOT!

Coincidence! I've just been looking at Amazon, and saw the one for £19.99.

I guess I'll just have to put my hand in my pocket! :'(

Re: COMPAQ - Presario CQ56-206SA

Ah Ha Ha Ha. I live in the South West coast on Vancouver Island, it's the only place in Canada where it conceivably doesn't get any snow, although it has snowed, but usually doesn't stick around for long.

Check out these pictures, it's great here ! :smileyvery-happy:

Message 25, it's just nicely into fall right now and the colours are gorgeous against the bright blue sky ! There's endless mountain roads and trails to run on here.
