Cant boot recovery!

Hey

I just bought a new laptop (Pavillion dv6 1224) and installed Windows 7 RC on it, later today, i found out that i wasnt able to boot the recovery drive.

I can see the files in the Recovery patition in Windows 7, but when i try to access the drive through the boot menu (ESC --> F11), its just starting Windows 7 up instead.

Re: Cant boot recovery!

Boot sequence has been destroyed from installing another operating system. If you did not create the media before you installed 7 then you will need to contact HP for a replacement.

Re: Cant boot recovery!

Correct, you will need to contact 1-800-HP-INVENT for a set of recovery discs. Remember that these discs are not free so have a credit card handy when calling.

Re: Cant boot recovery!

This procedure works for many people>>

1.Right-click on "Computer" icon and select manage.
2.This will launch the Microsoft Management Console.
3.On the left side of the MMC, click on "Disk Management" and it will show you all of the partitions.
4.Right-click on the "HP Recovery" partition and select "Mark as Active Partition."
5.When the warning prompt appears, select "Yes" - Reboot the notebook and it will automatically boot into the Recovery Manager without having to press F11.

Re: Cant boot recovery!

@Adamtech

It is a really neat trick.Wish I could take credit for it ,but it was discovered a while back (Author forgotten) to work on XP when many people weren't yet aware of the new process  to create Recovery Disks.

It has almost 100% success rate on XP machines with slightly lower on Vista machines for some reason. Once recovered the Recovery Disks can be created!
