END of a sentence? It keeps jumping around, making it very hard to type.

Hi Heather,
What is the full version of Windows installed on your notebook - ie Windows 7 64bit?

Hi Heather,
Try the following.
First, download the latest Synaptics driver installer on the link below and save it to your Downloads folder.
http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp49001-49500/sp4939
Next, open windows Control Panel, open Programs and Features, right click the entry 'Synaptics Pointing Device Driver' and select Uninstall.
When this has completed, shut down the notebook, unplug the AC Adapter and then remove the battery. Hold down the Power button for 30 seconds. Re-insert the battery, plug in the AC Adapter and start the notebook.
When windows has fully reloaded, open your Downloads folder, right click the Synaptics installer and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation. When this has completed, restart the notebook again.

DP-K

When I clicked on the link, it downloaded in 2 minutes time. After that, it asked me if I wanted to overwrite the already existing one on this notebook. I said "yes to all". Then, it opened up an "install wizard" and did its thing. After it was finished, it said "Synaptics has been updated. Do you wish to restart your computer?" I had the choice of doing it "now" or "later". I clicked on the "Restart Now" and it now is working like a dream. The cursor line doesn't jump backward anymore. I just wanted to thank you for all that you do. I don't think I will pull out the battery or anything like that but if I have any more problems, I will certainly give you guys a ring. Thank you so much. (I love HP. It rocks!!!)
Sincerely,
Heather from Texas
