I have just bought HP dv7-6150eb, Serial Number: 5CH1340ED5, Product Number: LZ391EA, Windows 7 64 bits, to my big surprise Cyberlink dvd suite is missing. I know for sure that it must be installed but somehow it has been completely missed in the original installation (factory image). In the specs it is there though, Manual installation fails if the file is downloaded from HP support site for this notebook. I contacted HP support on line chat in the USA but they failed to help me out. Any ideas? for multimedia notebook not to have any multimedia suite is strange. In any case HP USA support confirmed that the Cyberlink DVD suite should be pre-installed on dv7-6150eb. What shall I do???

Do you mean this is missing ?
There is also another program as you said called Cyberlink DVD Suite that is probably in your SwSetup file in drive "C".
Go to "Computer" and open drive "C", find "SwSetup" and in there should be a folder labeled CyberDVD. If you click on that there will be a file that says "Setup" and that should install.
Let me know what you are after and I can also help you to do a manual install where you use 7-zip to unpack the install files.
This works well for Cyberlink Power DVD10.

Yes, this is correct, the link you mentioned referes to the installation file of Cyberlink DVD suite 10 for this notebook. The problem is that this file does not install, it tries for a couple of seconds but then nothing happens. The folder you mention does not exist. When I tried to launch the setup file again from Swsetup the result is the same.

We'll use a trial of RAR Labs to extract DVD10, I never liked 7-Zip. Choose your preferred language (64 bit), run it to install and restart. The last time I checked the trial lasts 40 days.
Click on the link earlier in the thread and save DVD10 to the desk top. At this point disable your anti virus and firewall, especially if they are AVG and Comodo.
Right click on the Power DVD10 install package and choose to "extract files". Open that folder and find the Windows install icon to install it, the 9th one from the bottom. Restart after the installation.
If you are running AVG, some of the files may be blocked when playing a Blu-ray movie, you will have to go into its resident shield settings to allow the specific files that are blocked to play Blu-ray movies.
If it still won't install, post again.

Thanks for you trying to help! I tried your advice but that has not worked out for me. I exctracted the file as you suggested and launched the setup file - result was the same as during normal install, it tries and then install ican disappears and nothing happens, and yes, the DVD drive is on for 1 second and I can hear the sound! I do not have any AVG software and I disabled firewall. I have the Microsoft security essentials though but I very much doubt if this is an issue.

Shut right down and when you boot up start immediately tapping the f8 key to boot into safe mode. Use your arrow and enter keys to navigate to safe mode without WiFi connection.
Close the window that pops up that explains what safe mode is and try the install procedure again and restart.
I run Microsoft Security Essentials and you are correct, it won't affect the install of DVD10.

Safe mode did not work either, during installation I got error something like: installation cannot find Windows install service. In the meantime, I have found a newer file for Cyberlink DVD suite, on international support site for DV7-6100 with the same result. I am starting to get worried, does this all mean and explains why Cyberlink DVD suite has not been factory installed??? I can bring my notebook back to the shop but I like it very much and the price was correct!

Shut down again and on boot up start tapping the f10 key to get into the BIOS, use your arrow and enter keys to navigate to "System Diagnostics" or sometimes just "Diognostics". Here you can test you hard drive and memory _ do the full test on both of them.
If they pass about the only thing that I can think of is to do a system restore to reinstall the HP factory image. You do this by tapping the f11 key on boot up and follow the onscreen instructions.
Are you running any virtual drives or have you installed any other programs that you think may hinder the install of Power DVD10 ?
Have you tried installing any other programs, do they install or is it just DVD10 ?
It's possible that HP did not let Windows finish installing the OS and it is corrupted _ reloading the system image from the recovery partition should fix that. This is a destructive restore and that means that it will wipe out all your personal information and programs. So be sure and save those items before carrying this out.
If reinstalling the factory image does not repair this or the hard drive and memory tests fail, then I would exchange it for another machine. It's a bran-new laptop, you shouldn't have to piss around with it like this.

Other programs install no problem, therefore I do not think that this is a memory or hard drive issue. I can still try to re-install the factory image as the last resort. In the meantime I will test the memory and hard drive just in case. I will come back on this.

I am going to put this on someone else's desk and see what he thinks.
