Dear Forum

I have purchased second hand above system but although on the tower case there is the official sticker which has certificate of authenticity ,. bar code, and product key (Win xp Pro) , I dont have the original windows xp disk that came with the PC when it was new.

In this regard I did try to install windows xp pro using a CD that I already had. However it proved impossible to get the installation process to accept the product key that is on the tower case.

Please does anyone know

Is it necessary to have a HP or compaq windows disk to get it properly installed

Please can anyone assist. I am keen to have a genuine installlation of windows xp pro on it with its own product key. It seems not all windows xp pro disks work  with every win xp pro product key.

Your kind assistance or any advice would be appreciated

ps I dont want to spend a lot of money on a disk the PC was not expensive
