Re: DV7-1285dx Drivers and installation for Windows XP ???

Hi Daniel,

Well, i start to telling you what happend. With the Remote Control, the driver sp42722 that you attached me, didn't work. I downloaded the driver for windows vista from the hp web, and this works ok. I attach the links for someone who need them.

                Here is the link: ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp41501-42000/sp41645.exe

With MediaSmart i downloaded all the drivers for windows vista form de hp web for this laptop, obviously.

                Here are the links: ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp42501-43000/sp42848.exe

                                           ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp43501-44000/sp43595.exe

                                           ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp43501-44000/sp43591.exe

                                           ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp42501-43000/sp42847.exe

                                           ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp42001-42500/sp42238.exe

But, for the "audio", i didn't had luck. I tried with many things. At first time i tried to install the drivers that you recommend, but if i install without unzip on of the show me an errors, and the otherone show me a poster said me that is not a driver for this audio. But, if i install after unzipped the driver, the only one that works is sp41693, one of you have attached me. First i have to install "kb835221", who appears when i unziped the package here (\sp41693\HDAQFE\win2k_xp\us\kb835221.exe). The i had to install the Setup.exe of \sp41693, idem of the unziped. All of this install the IDT high definition audio and at this point also appears NVIDIA HDMI audio, that it was already installed, but it didn't apears in Manage Device. All of this is working correctly while windows xp is startup, but when you shut down or restart the sound stop working, and i have to reinstall following the same steps.

I expect that you understand my English, because for me is very difficult. If you find another way to help I would appreciate a lot.

Regards.

Note: i don't know if this helps you, but i had installed the SP3 for windows xp. Also the laptop don't restart automatically, i have to press the button of shut down when i want to restart, and press again to startup.

Re: DV7-1285dx Drivers and installation for Windows XP ???

Solution written by Rakhmad:

If you found the sound was not working after restart, do the following steps

1. Download devcon command line utility, here

2. Extract and copy the file to c:\windows\devcon\i386\devcon.exe

3. Make command line to restart MS-UAA automatically or just download this file

The command line as: C:\windows\devcon\i386\devcon.exe restart "PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_293E&SUBSYS_3607103C&REV_03"

Notes:

1. The location of devcon.exe is in c:\windows\devcon\i386\devcon.exe if you change it, you need to edit idt.bat

2. "PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_293E&SUBSYS_3607103C&REV_03" is hardware ID for MS-UAA, if you found it in a different name change it.

3. Place idt.bat in c:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup

4. The sound will be restore within 6-10 seconds, because of that there is NO sound of XP start-up

Good luck

Re: DV7-1285dx Drivers and installation for Windows XP ???

@cdgreat,

There are big problems with drivers to XP 64 bit version, software, etc. This version isn't as good supported as other system. I know the there is one difference which may be very importnat to You. Then XP 32 bit can hold only 3,5GB of Ram and 64 bit version all that chipset can take. If You need full Ram for any program or anything else the best choice is to use two systems. One will be XP32 bit and second Vista x64 or Win7 x64 which is now in beta test mode.

Go to Control Panel -> System -> Hardware -> Devices Manager -> Sound, video and game controller

Click with right button of Your mouse on IDT and choose properties. Then go to bottom details. Check is there the same information as in point 2. If not edit this idt.bat file and put there this what You found in details.

3. Place idt.bat in c:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup

Have You done this with restart?
