DV9700T win7 professional upgrade

[ Edited ]

Hello,

I will be upgrading to win 7 prof 64-bit.  I have Vista ultimate x-64 installed.  Do I need to download any drivers prior to upgrading and where can I find them??

Also someone commented that I should save my recovery partition.  If I do a clean install, won't I lose that partition??

And finally, How do I change the bios to use windows xp compatibility mode???

Thanks so much!!

Lucy

Re: DV9700T win7 professional upgrade

For minimum trouble, install windows 7 using the "upgrade" mode. This will upgrade the current vista to WIndows7. If fresh install (formating the current partition, make sure leave the recovery partition alone if you want to keep the recovery partition. To use the XP mode, your CPU needs to support virtualization mode, not just a bios setting, you might want read the menu of your notebook to determine if there is a setting in bios.

Re: DV9700T win7 professional upgrade

Hello,

Thx for the reply.  I used the intel check and it does support virtualization so I modified the bios.

I can't use upgrade mode b/c I'm going from ultimate to professional.  I have to do a clean install.

Do I need the recovery partition????  How do I leave the recovery partition alone???
