Re: Downgrade dv7 1190eg to Windows XP

Make your Vista Recovery cd/dvd,then you can delete both partitions with XP installer.

There are several threads here at forums, but the best place to start, imo, is this on the dv5t which is little brother to your model. At least read the advice on copying your C:\SwSetup folder to dvd before formatting the hdd:

Re: Downgrade dv7 1190eg to Windows XP

To install XP You need to slipstream Your Sata drivers (only ICH9M-E/M SATA AHCI Controller) with nLite.

Here is a guide how to do it and here are Sata drivers . Extract to a folder, using 7Zip, WinRar,etc.

If you  don't have SP3,full download is   here

and here is the guide how to slipstream SP with Your system with nLite.

A  guide at HP forum Here using XP SP2. and, recent thread here  that may be useful to read through.Be sure to read all the way through it before making the move to see the pitfalls_and also the fact that posters ultimately needed the link to DV5T posted above to solve headphone issues. They also ended up with some unknowns in Device Manager that likely would have been solved if they had taken time to copy their C:\SwSetup folder.
