I installed Window 7 beta to test out the new touch screen softwares for my pavilion tx2000. Unfortunately, i forgot to plan ahead and back up my original OS (vista). How would i go about attaining the factory installed OS?
a point to mention:
-HP didn't included an OS CD. -i believe they're trying to promote just using system restore. this is nice, but not very affective for my situation

Soon after setting up your laptop, you should have gotten a prompt to create Recovery Disk set.Did you make them?
If not, you can order them from HP as mentioned. One other option you can try is using Disk Management.Right click "Computer" icon and choose 'Manage'. In the window that opens look in the left sidebar for 'Disk Management'.Select it and you should see your partitions. If D:\Recovery is there select it,then right click and "Mark as Active", ignoring any warnings.
On reboot your laptop should boot into Recovery..if there is an Advanced option choose it to format C:,..if no Advanced option just proceed with Recovery.
Good luck!

Hi there, you can recover your system to Vista if you have not deleted the recovery partition of your hard disk. If you have the recovery partition then it will be the easiest part to recover your vista installation.
While starting, you should press the 'ESC' key. In the next screen, you should find the recovery option. Continue with the recovery whizard and complete restoring factory installation. When prompted, you should confirm that you want to restore from Hard drive.
But if you have already deleted the recovery partition, it seems that you have done something that is irriversible. Even though my suggestion may be very much disappointing in this case, you DO NOT have any other option than getting a VISTA DVD or Recovery Disk. Because you have erased vista and installed windows 7 on the same partition probably, no data recovery software will be able to get back your vista data and partition.
So, either try the recovery option in the system or get a vista DVD or recovery set.
