Re: Downgrading Compaq Presario CQ50-142US from Vista to Windows XP

Ok I wanted to do the same, but I had openSUSE loaded in the machine as well, so I formated the machoine using linux.  I have a brand new copy of Windows XP Pro, but it won't even load comes up with this error saying Technical information: Stop : 0x00000007B (0xF78D2524, 0xc0000034, 0x00000000, 0x00000000, its reading the cd you can hear it, but it does nothing comes up with this error everytime. Oh it will load openSUSE or any Linux I put too it, but Windows XP forget it, I was thinking ok maybe I should load the hard drive using my Compaq/HP tower, it has a SATA drive setup in it, then switch the drive back into my laptop.....

But if there is an easier way please tell me, as it is stuck in the blue screen mode everytime I try to load it.

Re: Downgrading Compaq Presario CQ50-142US from Vista to Windows XP

Were you able to perform the downgrade?  I'm having similar problems on a laptop (not mine) that unfortunately doesn't have a dual-boot =(  Came across your post, looking for info...

Many thanks!
