Re: Downgrading My DV6700 From Vista to XP

XP neeeds the sata driver:

Download and run it,make a floppy OR cancel floppy creation.The files will be extracted to C:\Swsetup\sp37005 to use with Nlite.

You can use Nlite to integrate the drivers into a new XP install cd.Nlite will even burn the new XP cd.

Nlite download:

Re: Downgrading My DV6700 From Vista to XP

XP drivers from V6700TX will work for your model. Install Intel Chipset Installation Utility for ICH8 first and reboot before other drivers.

(see below also before continuing with other drivers):

You have either Mobile Intel 965 Graphics or,Nvidia Graphics:

Some of the drivers above require .Net,MS UAA and Windows Installer 3.1 first.

MS UAA(required with a reboot before Realtek audio):

OR>>MS UAA for XP SP3:

.Net Framework(before Quick Launch):

Windows Installer 3.1(before Intel wireless):

(You may have Broadcom instead of Intel Wireless)

Re: Downgrading My DV6700 From Vista to XP

Hi,

I have followed your advices, (i have a dv6700 too), and I have burned a new boot cd, with widows xp sp3 and sata drivers on it.

The installation has been performed, i was glad, my pc has rebooted, the familiar Xp screen has appeared... then blue screen during two seconds, like an error message.. then the pc has turned off..

Impossible to start windows xp, each time, i get this blue screen and my pc turns off...

Any idea?

Thanks a lot!

@Ornicar

1.Enter BIOS setup and run the hdd diagnostics.

2.Check for complete model number as shown in section 1 below,and post it.P/N in section 2 also will help.

Product :  Hp Pavillon dv6700
s/n ; CNF8312RKC
p/n : FK143EA#ABF

I have done a HD diagnostic, and the answer is... #10009- Replace Hard Disk.

Must i change my Hard Drive?  it worked good with Vista...

Edit : maybe the Sata drivers i added on my cd are not the good one... i downloaded it from the link given in the second post.

Re: Downgrading My DV6700 From Vista to XP

@Ornicar

The SATA driver is correct. It would have nothing to do with bad hdd diagnosis from BIOS. Even though the hdd worked in Vista it probably had been starting to fail and  can't stand up to the stresses of installing a new OS. It would likely have failed sometime in the near future in Vista.
