Driver Installation Crashed Laptop

Hi,

I installed the graphics accelarator driver on my Presario C300EA windows xp proffessional - which is the

sp33736.exe. During installation the computer somehow shut down - i didn't see any message as i wasn't looking at the screen - i tried to boot it back up but it keeps returning to the boot screen.
I've tried booting it in every mode available but it keeps restarting and going to the boot screen.
Before it starts there is a message but it only flickers on and off so there is no way of reading it - although i'm pretty certain i can see some reference to "display" in this message.
Is there any cure for this? i have already tried to reinstall windows xp using a new disc but this fails due to software!
Any ideas?

Unfortunately it looks like something got corrupted in the registry. When the words flash on the screen, have you tried hitting the Pause/Break key to see what it says? It might provide more information on what's going on.

First thing I would do is do a hard reset on the notebook: Unplug notebook, remove battery, hold power button for about 10 seconds.

Next boot into your system's BIOS. It should flash on the HP logo screen what key it is to enter it. Then choose the "Set BIOS to Default" option.

If that doesn't work the only other thing you can do is reseat the memory just in case it's loose (make sure you're grounded first).

You'll probably end up having to recover the system through the recovery partition. It might also be possible to use a live CD OS (like Bart's PE, or one of the linux distributions) and try to run a restore from it. If they don't help you can still pull your data with the live CD's software.
