Hi I purchased a new DV7t-6100 quad new from HP in October and immediately installed a new SSD.
It worked fine for just over one month before refusing to power up.
I returned it to HP and explained that I had installed a new SSD from day one but don't have to original drive to hand.
They are saying it'll cost $860 to repair as it's beyond economical repair and is not covered by warranty, presumably due to me fitting a replacement SSD. They are saying the motherboard and CPU are fried.
Surely this can't be right ?
Reading the small print in the warranty, it would appear an after market SSD would not affect warranty, nor do I beleive the SSD failing would cause such a major failure.
Has anyone else experienced this type of problem / failure and if so what action did you take ?
Thanks
