I agree with most posters in this thread. When I bought my new laptop it was great and a free upgrade even better! I have had so many problems with Vista in just over a month of use and am very aggravated and very anxious to get W7. Well when my son bought his new desktop,two weeks latter, also an HP, he said he scanned the called for documentation and faxed it to Arvato, an option I was not aware of, anyway his came in the mail yesterday!!!!! I was told not until the middle of Nov. to expect mine and that they would ship first come first serve basis. Go figure. HP bad discussion going with Arvato.

Ive had mine accepted since september 15 and ive still yet to recieve any imformation about shipping

On Friday 10/30, I decided I would contact HP directly to see what their response to me would be.  I got the following as part of their reply.

 

"We truly appreciate the trust that you have displayed in our services and us, and assure you that we will certainly try to live up to your expectations.

 

xxxxx, we have checked the status of your order. It is Arvato has received all the required information from your side. It will take some time to complete the process.

 

If there is anything else we can do to make things easier for you, please let us know, we will be happy to assist you with all our resources."

 

What a bunch of baloney!!  I wrote back to them and asked if they had a clue what "some time" meant.  I haven't heard from them since.

Alot of disks won't be sent till almost the end of Nov. CALL ARVATO.

I checked the tracking # they gave me (DHL) and it says delivered to USPS (I have a P.O. box). I checked the USPS tracking # provided and indeed it says it was delivered yesterday and is held for pickup. Guess we'll see tomorrow when they're open.

 

A hint on the DHL tracking # - I cut and pasted it out of the shipping confirmation email and at first it said invalid. I looked at it and found my cut and paste had inserted an invisible space character - when I re-did it more carefully it worked.

Just called the number associated with the HP Upgrade offer, 877-280-2279 (actually am on hold trying to get a manager) and was told that my order was approved in July.  Of course I didn't submit my order until August so I thought that was pretty good, all the more reason to have my upgrade in my hot little hands.  But no, they have no clue what is going on.  I was told that I was actually speaking to Microsoft, not to HP Arvato.  Then again, the people on this line are just to give fools like us who bought HP the opportunity to vent to a human, even though I think he was in another country.  This whole upgrade from HP has been a farce and HP should be ashamed that it is being run so poorly.  I should hope that whoever the managers or VP's are who screwed this up so badly will be the next people collecting unemployment as they did screw this up royally.  Or, guess the managers are all busy, they just hung up on me.  What perfect timing.  Nice to know that when you have a question or problem you can get hung up on.  Apple is beginning to look better and better.

For littlewhizkid:  I would imagine that you will probably be on hold to speak to a "manager" for about as long as it will take to get the promised product.  These guys are totally unreal.  In todays rough economy, you would think companies would be bending over backward to support their customers.  I guess they figure they already have our money.

 

Please come back and post whatever the so called manager told you.

As imagined, I did not get to speak to a manager.  I did my level best to hold a steady tone and not give them an excuse to hang up on me but that is exactly what happened.  The guy I spoke with could tell me nothing, which makes me wonder why they even have a call in number.  The web page for checking status has not been updated for my order since the day it first appeared, even though they claim my order was accepted.

 

I look at it this way.  the information is submitted and put into a database, electrnically.  Microsoft and HP know exactly how many people have placed orders for the upgrade and it should be a matter of running of lables and attaching them to the package.  So besides incompetence, what is taking so long?  This is a black eye for both HP and Microsoft.  I do have to purchase a couple of new computers for my kids this Christmas, right now I am pretty certain HP is not going to be very high on my list.  Frankly, I could have ordered a customized laptop and had it shipped in less time than this upgade is taking.

Hi my name is Cody stone i have not got windows 7 from ARVATO DIGITAL SERVICES i have call with them they told me i would get windows 7 upgrade in 60 day but yesterday they have sent me am email saying that i might now get windows 7 but i told the i can get it from other places quicker than you and my dad just got windows 7 from Acer  saturday where in the hell is windows are we getting it from the dumb company at all

I ordered two upgrades on 10/17/09, for a Desktop - Windows Vista 64 Bit and for a Laptop - Windows Vsta 32 Bit. I received the 64 Bit on 11/3/09, shipped on 10/27/09. They stated it would ship via DHL but it was delivered by USPS. The 32 bit has been showing status as "accepted" since 10/23/09.
