HDX16 buttons in windows 7

After upgrading my Windows Vista to Windows 7 (64 bit), my eject and bass/treble buttons do not work. My volume/mute buttons do work however, after i installed HP MediaSmart SmartMenu (sp45140.exe).

Anyway, I tried installing HP Tone Control Utility (sp45617.exe) to make the bass/treble work, but it doesn't really work and it shows a messed up OSD when I use it, shown in the screen shot below:

 Hello,

You will need to load the latest Audio drivers along with the TONE control to make it work,,

SP45011.exe

 ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp45001-45500/

TITLE:
IDT High Definition Audio CODEC Driver
VERSION:
6.10.6225.0 REV: A

Re: HDX16 buttons in windows 7

I just tried installing SP45011.exe but it didn't fix the OSD; it's still messed up. Also when I am changing the bass/treble I can look at the sound properties to see how much it changes, both only go from -10 to 2... the sliders don't go all the way from -10 to 6.

Re: HDX16 buttons in windows 7

Hello,

We may need to uninstall tone and reinstall over the top of the audio drivers

Before installing Tone Control you need to have the IDT audio driver for HDX16/HDX18 installed - SP45011.exe

(ToneControl driver won't install properly if the default Win7 inbox audio driver is used instead of the IDT Win7 driver listed above)

Re: HDX16 buttons in windows 7

Ok, here's what I did just now:

1) uninstalled the IDT audio driver and the Tone Control.

2) restarted computer

3) installed IDT audio driver

4) restarted computer

5) installed Tone Control

6) restarted computer

After all that, my treble/bass control thing is still the same. It only goes from -10 to 2, and the OSD is still messed up.

Ok,

What BIOS do you have?  The latest Win 7 supported version is F.31

SP45139.exe

ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp4501-5000/

thanks!

Re: HDX16 buttons in windows 7

I thought I had asked but maybe not, have you installed the QuickLaunch driver for WIn 7?

try SP45058.exe

ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp45001-45500/

thanks!

Re: HDX16 buttons in windows 7

I tried the SP45058.exe that you mentioned, problem not fixed.

I tried the newer QuickLaunch sp45889.exe, problem still not fixed.

:smileysad:

This sucks. I really would like to have the original Volume/Treble/Bass OSD (it showed 3-in-1) that came with Windows Vista when I first got my HDX16...

Re: HDX16 buttons in windows 7

Hello dOoBiX,

I get the same thing. I try to upgrade form vista with the option "new installation". I update all my programs and driver from the site web hp for the hdx x16-1320 and no more eject button and bass/treeble osd is the same as your picture.

So I recover my notbook with vista, reinstall Windows 7 from vista (keeping the initial programs) and the eject button ans treeble/ bass ok.

Since I update the media smart menu, no more eject button. I think it's a mistake from the media msart menu programs. So we may contact hp support to tell them.

ps: dOoBiX is your eject button work after you install all the uptades?
