HELP! HP PAVILION SHUTS DOWN?

Ok so i have a HP Pavilion and every time i try to access the Control panel or My Pictures it shuts down on me. Anyway to fix this? Also in order to fix this issue I'll probably have to take it into a shop but every time i hook it off the charger it shuts down aswell any way i could fix this? Please help!

Hello,

When you are using the notebook does it shutdown only when you go to the control panel and pictures only or does it shutdown after a period of time?

Although I am an HP employee, I am speaking for myself and not for HP.

Thank you for replying! and no it doesn't it just restarts every time i click on Control panel or my pictures

i have an HP laptop don't know the model because it is at home  but after using it about 30 min the display shuts down and i have to power it down to get the display back.  i thought maybe it was overheating but i placed it on a surface that allowed the air to flow directly to the bottom and it still did this.  any ideas?
