The Recovery Partition Can only be created using Original Recovery disk....Your notebook was originally Shipped with Windows Vista...So you will need to install Vista Back but once you install Windows 7 back the recovery partition will not work....

HP does not provide a way to do what you want. You will need to use 3rd party software to back up your Operating System.

So let me understand this correct, are you looking to create recovery partition like the one that came with the notebook but should have windows 7 or do you want the recovery partition that originally came with the notebook?

I was trying to install linux on my machine(product no. XV699PA). It was not installed correct. After that i was not even able to start windows. So i formatted whole my hard disk. It also deleted the recovery drive. Now i want to ask can i restore my machine back to its out of box state. I have 8 disks of system image and 1 repair disk. Please help me.
