Attempting to have HP website scan my computer for updating installed products but I am unable to, due to continual crashing of the HP Acive Check Plugin. The error up top reads "The following plugin has crashed:HP Active Check Plugin". And an error explanation says "One HP Check Local Mode Job is already running. Please try again later."
I have uninstalled the plugin and reinstalled it several times, Stopped processes in Task manager, Turn off my firewall... to no avail. I need to update the Bios. What is the problem? Is there another way to update the Bios?
US - Hewlett Packard Bios - HP F.20 (10/13/2009)
Intel Core 2 Duo CPU Processor T6600 - 2.20 GHz, 2200 MHz
HP G71-340US Notebook PC Windows 7 / 64-bit P/N VM114UA#ABA
New HDD 750 GB, installed OS via Recovery Disks 5 days ago.
Browsers : Google Chrome (also have IE 9, Safari)

Hi,
1. Which browser are you using?
2. Please write your notebook product number (p/n), which system are you using and country of purchase.

Hi again,
Ad 1
Try Internet Explorer instead Chrome.
Ad.2
Here is direct link to the latest Bios for your model.
Ad.3
You may want to check the below link too:
Using HP Support Tools to Update HP Software, Drivers, and BIOS with Windows 7
Note:
Warning!
Bios update is always very risky. Your notebook may not boot after this step, so be careful and have full patience. You will perform this update at your own risk. I do not take responsibility for any problems.
How to update Bios?
First check which Bios version you've got now. This information may be very helpful if ther will be any problem.
Connect the notebook to the AC power supply.
Disconnect from the Internet. Exit from all programs that you are running. Disable anti-virus and firewall.
Execute the Bios update exe file. It may take some time. Allow the notebook to restart after applying the updated BIOS.
While this update is running do not:
- switch off your laptop,
- disconnect AC power supply,
- try to run any software or do anything on it .

Ad 1 - I tried IE 9, no results there, wasn't able to successfully install the plugin.
Forward to plan B - Ad 2. Have just downloaded the updated version of Bios... See you on the other side

Hi Daniel,
Haleluya!! Bios updated without a hitch!
But... The HP Active Check Plugin still crashes!! Even after updating Windows, Bios, and defragmentation of the HHD...hmm Had to do it manually.. just followed the directions.
My once HOT airplane-propellor sounding laptop, is purring like a.... cougar in heat! LOL
Thanks with bunches of Kudos ![]()
