By 'installed all updates' does that mean you have done all Windows Updates too? If not go to Control Panel and open Windows Update.

Yep, every windows update was done, all driver and bios updates were done and still CPU runs very high and maxes out way too fast. At this point I want to go back to Windows Vista where it was nice and quiet. How can I do that?

Re: HP DV4 running hot after Windows 7 upgrade...

If you made your Vista Recovery Disk set, boot with it and restore to Vista. I had made an image of my Vista partition before upgrading and simply restored it..

If you didn't make your Vista Recovery Disks you can order from HP..or try this procedure>>>

1.Right-click on "Computer" icon and select manage.
2.This will launch the Microsoft Management Console.
3.On the left side of the MMC, click on "Disk Management" and it will show you all of the partitions.
4.Right-click on the "HP Recovery" partition and select "Mark as Active Partition."
5.When the warning prompt appears, select "Yes" - Reboot the notebook and it will automatically boot into the Recovery Manager without having to press F11.
