My HP DV5000 (XP) has been crashing frequently but two weeks ago, it starting shutting down on startup with no option to bypass.
I tried booting with safe mode but it doesn't seem to be able to load up windows. After a few minutes of looping through the booting cycle, it turns itself off.
Unfortunately, my CD drive doesn't work either.
Now, all i want to do is rescue my files from my HD if all fails. Can anyone help?
Thanks,
Aki

Same here,
Luckily I have the Sitecom - USB-IDE/SATA combo Adapter to check my harddisk contents... but the problem remains the same. My laptop doesn't start up and hangs in a loop.
good luck. If I get an answer, I will contact you.
