Re: HP Operating System Software CD

You'll have to call HP Technical Support at 18004746836 and order your Recovery Media (which will cost you about $30 at most).

Also, if you're computer is working fine...you can make your own set of Recovery Media for free by following these instructions:

Create a set of operating system recovery discs

When creating the recovery discs, the HP Recovery Manager examines the PC and determines how many blank CDs or DVDs the disc creation process will require. The disc creation process may require up to ten or more CD-R discs or up to three DVD-R or DVD+R discs.

CAUTION: The discs must be either CD-R, DVD-R, or DVD+R. Do not use CD-R/W or DVD-R/W read/write type discs because the creation process will fail.

Create a set of operating system recovery discs by following the steps below.
  1. Click Start and type Recovery in the search field. Select Recovery Manager from the list when it becomes available. Allow the action to continue, if prompted. The HP Recovery Manager opens.
Alternately, click Start , All Programs , Recovery Manager , and then Recovery Manager . Allow the action to continue, if prompted. The HP Recovery Manager opens.
  2. Click Advanced options , Recovery disc creation , and then click Next .
  3. When prompted, put a blank disc in the optical disc drive and follow the on-screen instructions to create the recovery discs.
After all of the recovery discs are created, label the discs and store them in a safe place.

Re: HP Operating System Software CD

Have you erased the recoverry partitions?

If still there, you can hack it so that you can make another recovery CD.

By assuming you find out how to make second recovery DVDs, you are welcome.

Re: HP Operating System Software CD

Last month I purchased HP Pavillion DV6 (model = Dv6 2020ev). After purchase, I immediately created System Recovery discs. But my recovery disc 1 is corrupted.

Can you help me to create a second set of recovery discs or only the first disc of system recovery using HP recovery partition of my system?

Re: HP Operating System Software CD

I had a corrupted Hard disk on my HP Compaq dc5000 MT, so I cleaned the Hard drive using DBAN. I did not wipe the Partition. SInce I do not have the HP OS disk, can I still do anything to get it back before having to order a new set of install disks?

Thanks for any support.

Re: HP Operating System Software CD

That's part of the problem, I don't have a Backup - I don't have an OS. Does that mean that I will need to buy the HP Operating install disks?

Re: HP Operating System Software CD

if you recently purchased the laptop check your warranty.. if you still have a warranty then you can call hp and get a recovery set free if not then you have to go to your support page for your model under support and drivers to order one.... but there maybe a solution if you have not done a full restore yet.. i have done it before.. you can call hp and ask them for the download to let you burn another set.. its a file that resets the image on the recovery partition to let you burn another set... but it only works if you HAVENT reinstalled the system already... you can also go here to download the file to see if this version works http://www.ehow.com/how_6671484_reset-hp-recovery-cd-builder.html
