Re: HP Pavilion DV7-1232nr XP Downgrade BSOD

Hi Cheryl,

That time they up dated. The unknown device shows as Direct Application Launch Button ( 7 Times).

It also took care of the ATI I/O  Communications Processor SMBus Controller that was showing up.

I can't thank all of you enough for all your help. You need to send HP a bill for such great support of their product.

They used to be the best in my opinion maybe again someday.

Mark

You're welcome! For a nice extra for the customer_and to save you time/money later, once you have XP running well with all drivers installed, make an Image of hdd_to easily  restore later if needed_no more driver searches.I have been using Macrium  and it is very good. Will backup to external USB hdd, CD/DVD, network drive, etc. It also creates a bootable cd to boot from and restore your entire OS ,programs and files in the event of problems.

Re: HP Pavilion DV7-1232nr XP Downgrade BSOD

Hi Cheryl,

Already one step ahead of you. It's on the bench right now running a image to the partition on the HD I created to hold it.

Just had to remove a few things from the drive. Copy the main profile out to the other users I created on it. And last but not least create a restore point in system restore.

Man for as long as I've been doing this work you'd think it get easier and easier.  LOL. Then you have these half wits writing all these bugs infesting peoples machines, boy would I like to get a few of them in front of my Baseball bat. Just for a few swings. I am going to check out your imaging SW link I using one of the standards currently but I'm always looking for good tools with software changing so fast.

Thanks, many regards,

Mark
