This is one of those questions that has no set answer. I have seen it work on some machines with no problem while on others it reports that you aren't running a supported OS.
Fwiw, a BIOS flash can always carry risks. If the update doesn't address a problem you are having-not worth the risk.
What is the P/N of your laptop, as listed on the Sevice Tag attached to bottom?

Good choice.![]()
Btw,when looking for drivers/updates always use/post the full model number (1) or P/N (2) as listed on the Service Tag attached to bottom of laptop.

It is ok with just Ricoh Card Reader driver since most models in the dv2000 series used the same hardware and driver. I just wanted to check to be sure you were looking at the correct BIOS update.
However, it would be a good idea to use the full model or P/N in the future when seeking help.![]()
Btw,welcome to the forum!
