Hi @all,
I have a HP Pavilion dv2700 - kh933ea#abv laptop (its a HP Pavilion dv2799ee Special Edition Entertainment Notebook PC to be exact) that shows the message "System CMOS checksum failed. Press F1 to continue" on every system startup. My OS is Windows 7 / 32 bit.
So I updated my BIOS to version Phoenix 2.4E, 01Dec-08 (the SMBIOS version remained the same as before 2.4) but the issue did not get resolved. I have attached a screenshot for the BIOS and processor versions.
Can anyone guide me on how to resolve this issue?
Thanks a lot in advance.

I don't see any screenshot attachments with your post. Please repost them.
That error message means that the BIOS is corrupt. You will have to have the BIOS flashed at a notebook shop, a BIOS repair shop or by an HP Service Center. Do an online search with Google or Bing for a BIOS repair shop. If you keep trying to update the BIOS there will come a time when all you have is a black screen.

Hi,
Replace the RTC battery. Check the Service manual here and the page 70 or 78 (depends how you will check pages in the pdf).

If you are able to enter the BIOS do you notice if the date & time are incorrect each time? That would be RTC battery failure.
The "System CMOS checksum failed" error message is clear and plain that the checksum of your BIOS ROM did not match what was expected. That means the BIOS is corrupt.
There is no other solution than what I posted in my previous response. That is why no one else has responded. You really can't make it other than what it is no matter how much you wish to. If your notebook was a newer one from perhaps at the earlirest 2011 through the current date and had the UEFI environment it would be a different story. Modern notebooks are recoverable if at least one update has beeen done. Your is not of the generation that has that wonderful utility.
Sorry that I couldn't give you an answer that you wanted to hear.

Can you tell me how much approximately the battery will cost in USD ? And is it safer to go to BIOS repair center than the HP Service Center since the latter might be more reliable in this case even if they cost a little bit more than the others?

The CMOS battery cost you may check here. It's really hard to say which service will be better.
