HP SimplePass 2011 will log me into some websites, but not others!

I have an HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook with the SimplePass technology. It was working fine up until recently. I had it set up to log me into Facebook and my email. I went onto the Facebook homepage and a window popped up (like it always does) saying I could use the SimplePass technology to log in to Facebook. This message comes up every single time and it was sort of annoying so I clicked "Don't show me this again", because I figured I could get by without the message popping up every time I get on Facebook. Unfortunately after that, I can't log onto Facebook with SimplePass anymore. It logs me onto my email because the message pops up every time that I can use SimplePass, but the message doesn't pop up for Facebook. I'm guessing it has something to do with me clicking "Don't show me this again". How can I get it to log me into Facebook again?

Thank you! And a belated Merry Christmas to you all!

Hey bsolfermoser,

You can hand add the Facebook back into your Webcard collection (website logins).

Open SimplePass

Click the "+" sign.  Add the URL (webpage address), give it a name.

If you have one, assign a nice icon to the webpage.  (Ask about creating personalized icons, if you want...)

Open the URL for Facebook, log in - it should ask if you want to save the password.

If that fails to bring joy:

If it still doesn't like it, Open that Facebook webcard that you created and hand edit the login information (password and userid) into the webcard and save it.

Once you get this working, be sure to EXPORT your webcards so you have a backup of your SimplePass password database.  Export is under the Settings "wheel".

I hope this helps.

Simple Pass will ring its bell and take me to the control center but will not log me in!

That's what's happening - I swipe, hear the bell, the menu pops up and there's no X delete for it, so I go to the control center and all my accounts are there, with their passwords. But I am never logged in unless I just retype the password in the first place and hit enter. That's the step I want to skip and that's what simple pass is for.

HELP is useless - just a dictionary of terms

Re: HP SimplePass 2011 will log me into some websites, but not others!

I just bought a HP dm4-3050us yesterday, and was having the same problem with my HP simplepass: I was getting annoyed with the pop up that said I can use simplepass to log in so I also clicked "don't show me this again" and I was not able to auto login to my gmail after that. I would swipe my finger and gmail would pop up, but it would not login for me like the other sites. I was able to fix this by:
1) full uninstall of the program... Go to control panel and uninstall the HP simple assist program an during the uninstall check the box that says you want to delete account info as well.
2) go to hp.com/support, then software and drivers and type in your computer model, then it will find software for your specific pc, then under the software (security) there is the HP 2011 software. Download and install that and it will install a new version (5.4) of the software that doesn't have the annoying popup and logs into all my sites properly .

Hope this helps. Took me 4 hrs to figure out because if you try to update through the HP simplepass software, it would say there are no updates available.

Re: HP SimplePass 2011 will log me into some websites, but not others!

Thanks for getting me started. I've uninstalled all simplepass program and identification. Gone to hp.com/support and entered computer type and operating system.

There we have a problem. There is a fingerprint sensor that can be downloaded under Drivers. Nothing that says security; nothing that says version 5.4 or simplepass 2011.

Can you retrace your steps and see if I've jumped an obvious step I should have seen along the way?

Thanks

I mistyped - there's nothing that says security and nothing that says HO 2011.

Re: HP SimplePass 2011 will log me into some websites, but not others!

Hey Katelacy,

After you enter your computer model number and select your op sys, you should get a list of drivers AND software below, make sure you look for the software (not the drivers), the software are listed below the drivers and there should be one that says "software-security" and when you expand that underneath there should be the "HP SimplePass Identity Protection 2011 Software" and below that will say version 5.4. Install that and it should all be good.

If you don't see "software-security" for some reason if they don't have it under your computer model, then try searching under computer model dm4-3050US, and OP sys - Windows 7 64 bit, and you will find it. If you have Windows 7 64 bit, it may still work with a different model computer, I would contact HP and ask.
