I have a Pavillion dv7 Notebook with Windows 7. Support Assistant has never worked in spite of trying monthly to make it work. I have tried uninstall and reinstall as Admin, turning off antivirus and even restoring it to factory state even though I told the support person it had never worked. (This was the first thing I tried to run when I opened the box). It was suggested that I could return the laptop but everything else seems to work and my business can not work with out it.
Support Assistant indicates many drivers need updated but when I try to install each one individually I receieve an error message that this is not the correct driver or software for my laptop and the update fails. I know Support Assistant does work flawlessly on both of my dauhters' laptops. I would love to see if someone can come up with a solution this time around.

Hi,
Try this and check if it helps..
1. First go to the link below and click Run now..
Fix problems with programs that can't be installed or uninstalled
Once the system restarts and loads to desktop press Control Alt Delete and Click Start Task Manager. Click Processes and if you see anything relatd to HPSA then right click and stop it.
Then try to uninstall HPSA again and check..
2. If still same error then perform a Clean Boot and then try to uninstall it just to make sure that the anti-virus doesnt cause any problem as you said you have already tried that once.
If it gets uninstalled then download the latest HPSA from this link:
Download HP Support Assistant for Windows 7
3. If the above steps doesnt allow you to uninstall HPSA then download this program and uninstall it.
If none of these works let me know..

I have uninstalled and reinstalled several times. I have never had an issue not being able to uninstall HPSA. I have also previously checked with Task Manager to see if HPSA services were still running after the uninstall and they were not. I have also uninstalled several times using the MS Fixit tool.
I have also already downloaded the latest version of HPSA (which doesn't appear to have been updated since September 2011) and reinstalled it several times. Still, every time I run HPSA is will stop and go back to the "Important Action Needed" screen once it starts to check the available disk space.

Thank you

How do I get a Print Screen? I hit the prt sc button and nothing happens.
But to answer your question, the Important Action Needed screen looks similar to your link. THe important actions are an Update to the following -
Ralink WiFi Adapter, HP Software Framework, HP Power Manager Utility, HP Protectsmart Hard Drive protection,
Recomended actions are as follows -
Validity Fingerprint Sensor Driver (listed twice), IDT audio driver, HP System Diagnostics UEFI, HP Connection Manager, HP Quicklaunch.
I select the updates, click the apply button in the lower right - The next screen comes up and Set a Restore Point Passes , Checking Disk space runs for less than 5 seconds during which time the progress bars under the updates all turn white and I am kicked back to the "Important Action Needed Screen" with no updates applied.
When I try to download the recomended updates and drivers and install them manually I recieve a message that the software or driver is not compatible with my system and will not be installed.

Yes..as you have already tried uninstalling and reinstalling it many times..i am checking what other steps would be best to fix the problem. Thank you for the time.
Run a Hard Drive test and check..This is how you can run the hard drive test:
To get a Print Screen there are two ways:
i. After you press Print Screen type Paint in the start search (Open Paint) and once Paint opens press Control V [Ctrl Key + V Key] and save the file on the desktop.
ii. Otherwise just click Start> In the Start Search box type Snipping .It'll show snipping tool at the top. Open it and then it'll ask you to drag and select the screen you want. Then Save it and insert it to the post..
