I think my hard drive crashed. I installed a new WD 320 Gb Sata 7200 rpm hard drive. When trying to boot up , a message said no hard drive recognized. I entered the bios by pressing F10 and saw that the boot sequence was set for a floppy, hard drive, and then the dvd drive. I changed it to boot to the dvd drive first and then the hard drive. Now nothing happens.
HELP!!! What did I do wrong??? Any help will be appreciated.. I tried to re format with my Windows XP disc and nothing happens...
Thanks - Al

Go into the BIOS (press F10 when you see the HP splash screen on bootup) and navigate to the Diagnostics Tab, then select Hard Drive test and see if it returns an error. If it does and it is under warranty, HP can replace it. Your warranty can be checked here:

Hi Knute - Thanks for your response... I couldn't access Bios using F10. I couldn't access anything so I took it to a computer repair guy and he said it had a bad mother board. It is worth installing a new motherboard? Can I do it myself?I have built several computers and enjoy a challenge....lol

If it's worth it to you, it's worth it. If you have a good memory and technical knowledge it is not too hard to replace a motherboard, just go slow and take your time so nothing is broken or turns up missing.
