Re: Motherboard changed in pavilion dm3-1111sa no quickweb or instant on in bios

The Quickweb was an option in the BIOS ROM file. You may be able to reinstall it via the Recovery manager.

  1. Start , All Programs , Recovery Manager , Recovery Manager .
  2. Select Software Program Reinstallation , and then select Next
    3. Select HP IOS and then select next.
If you can't find it in the hard disk recovery manager and you still have the recovery disks from before the motherboard was replaced then that may be a source for the HP IOS software.

Re: Motherboard changed in pavilion dm3-1111sa no quickweb or instant on in bios

I have tried using both the recovery manager and the recovery disks - they both failed - in fact the whole computer crashed and I was unable to reboot the machine at all.  Lckily a colleague at work managed to recover windows for me but the option in the bios for quickweb and instant on was still not present.

Would it be worth me buying the recovery disks from HP at a cost of around £35 or would the bios not appear in there?

The Recovery Manager on the hard disk  should have the install drivers and software option. Did you try that or did you start a recovery?

I do not know if the recovery disks would have the option to reinstall the HP IOS software. It would be worthwhile to have an official HP recovery disk set for your notebook in case you do have problems in the future. 35 Pounds would ba a small price to pay for a backup operating system/driver disk.

Re: Motherboard changed in pavilion dm3-1111sa no quickweb or instant on in bios

I tried both options and neither worked. Do I assume then there is no way I can reinstall hp quick web without the entry to quick web and instant on being in the bios? Is there a 'rollback' bios I can initiate?

Would the official disks reinstall the relevant entry in the bios?

I also don't understand why when the new motherboard was fitted this information was not included - very odd.

Re: Motherboard changed in pavilion dm3-1111sa no quickweb or instant on in bios

You stated that the systemboard was replaced. If you have not updated BIOS since that time though the UEFI environment, then there is no previous BIOS that you can roll back to.

Is your notebook still under warranty?

If it is important for you to have this feature I suggst that you contact HP and explain the situation.

Re: Motherboard changed in pavilion dm3-1111sa no quickweb or instant on in bios

Unfortunately it is no longer under warranty and I couldn't afford to extend it at that time.
What is the UEFI environment?

Will hp still help me if I am out of warranty?

I have found what may be what you were looking for.

On this web page there is a link that allows you to download the IOS (quickweb) software for your notebook.

Download it, install and configure it.  Post your results here.

regarding your query on the UEFI environment. Read about it here. It is the BIOS of the future here today.
