HP w/Windows XP Compaq nc 6000 Is this an HP or Compaq?

I'm a Mac person and know absolutely nothing about PC's and so this makes it even more complicated for me! I have a laptop that has a HP symbol on it yet says it's a compaq nc 6000. Which one is it??

I need to buy an AC adapter and some memory, but have no idea what to look for. Thanking you in advance for any help you may be able to give me.

Hi:

That notebook came out around the time HP and Compaq merged.

It's technically both...a HP Compaq nc6000 Notebook PC.

Below is the link to the service manual for the notebook.

You will find the parts list in chapter 3 with part numbers.

Max memory is 2 x 1 GB of PC2700.
