HP zv6123cl Laptop will not complete boot

My Laptop started doing the following so I got on the forums for info.

Laptop starts and then I get the screen the shows we apologize etc etc.  I tried the choice of Start Windows Normally. After selecting Normal start I get a blank page and it never goes beyond that page.  I also tried Safe Mode, in Safe Mode I get a full page of lines showing all the Drivers & it stops there and stays there.  Was working fine the other day.

Then per instructions I recieved and also found on the HP site  I removed the memry to reseat and then the battery and held power button down for several seconds, now it does even less than it did before.

After all this it now just goes to a Black screen with the cursor blinking in upper left corner.
So I tried putting in the  HP operating disk that came with the laptop, Windows XP loaded all drivers or what ever it loads, came to the Windows (Blue)  is starting screen and that is where it stayed for the next 1/2 hr until I shut it off.  So I tried it again same thing. The HD tested good on the long test, it seems to recognize the memory as it subtracted when I removed one showing 1GB instead of 2GB.  Is this now a Motherboard problem or any ideas B/4 I take it to the repair shop.

Re: HP zv6123cl Laptop will not complete boot

IT'S FIXED: (Placed gently in the can)

I tried HP support to fix it but that work, they told me to reload the OSP disk. I told them everything that was happening and had been happening.  In particular when I put in the OSP disk, it wouldnt do anything. So they didn't really know what was happening with it, just making a guess that wasn't a good guess. Difficult to load Windows XP into a non functioning as in DEAD HD.

I took it to a local shop and they checked it out and the HD is toast., they couldnt get it t do anything.  Luckily the place where I purchased it will replace it with a new laptop as I ahd a 3yr extended warranty so at least I'm not completely out of luck..

Should I trade for a new HP or Dell or Sony or Toshiba or what?   Anyone have any opinions.  You can pm me if you would like to keep it private.

Re: HP zv6123cl Laptop will not complete boot

Problem fixed!!!  If I could figure out how to close this I would.    Even though HP advised me to put in the Operating disc and start over.   I told HP what it did when I had put in the disk B/4 but they told me to do it anyway.  I took it to a shop to diagnose the problem. BAD HD.  With all the info I gave HP you would think they could figure that out or make a suggestion that it looks like a bad HD.  HP tech support with me is 0 for 4.  I do like the HP line so most people would wonder,  Now is this stupid, I just bought a new HP Laptop.  Luckily I have enough skill to fix most problems.
