How can I prevent my pc from shutting down, without warning, to update software?

My pc shuts down, WITHOUT WARING, to update software.  It cause me to lose whatever work I am doing.

How can I prevent this from happening again?

Run "gpedit.msc"

 

It will bring up local policy editor.

 

Click on "Computer Configuration" -> "Administrative tools" -> "Windows Components" -> "Windows Update"

 

In the "Windows Update" portion you will now see "No auto-restart with logged on users for scheduled Automatic Updates Installations" -> double click that and set to "Disabled" in the radio button. -> then apply and you may need to re-start for it to take effect.
