I have a almost new comaq mini and stupidly thought firefox would be great for it and immediatey downloaded a trogan called agent_r.XJ. I have scanned it with everything. I have restored twice to the date it was turned on but nope trojan is still happily sitting on explorer.exe and svchost.exe.
My ultimate aim now it to take the computer right back to factory settings. But I am unable to find a way to do this on boot up usally i press alt and F11. I have tried all kinds of F buttons and nothing will work.
Please help its brand new netbook.

Thats what I would have thought too but F11 just brings it to a screen saying do you want to start in safe mode.
Edit: F6 brings me to restore but restore isn't good enough for trojan I need to recover to factory settings
All other F buttons lead to the do you want to start in safe mode page

Hi,
Have you tried running a boot time scan to see if you can remove this particular piece of Malware - the instructions and download for creating a bootable flash drive to do this are on the link below. This will need to be created on another PC. It would also be a good idea to turn off Windows System Restore on the mini before running this.

Power on the notebook, and keep tapping on the "Esc" Key, this will give you the Startup Menu Options, which you now provide you with an option to Press F11. Once your on this screen, Press F11 and check if you can get into the Recovery Mode.

Sorry to but in but I’m new at this (I’m 72).
I’m trying to install a new Windows 7 CD over a non registerd Windows 7.
On a standard computer I would go into the Bios to enable it to Boot from the new CD by pressing Delete but when I start my HP CQ10 500 the Windows system comes up.
I’m also tying to get on to the Internet but its coming up “Drivers are Missing”.
I have the correct ID and Password, its so easy as I’m with TalkTalk and its standard using my telephone number then @talktalk.net, the password is talktalk89 so I know everything is ok. I’m using the same modem as the one I’m using now to post this so the modem is OK.
Help with these two problems would be appreciated.
.Many thanks
Derek
