Hi.
I have an HP Pavilion 9500 since three years. A few months ago, my OS became corrupt and the recovery partition didn't work. Installed Windows XP on to the computer, as I had a disc at home. However, after the installation, I realised that the network and sound cards don't work with XP or anything else but Vista.
So now I wonder: just how am I supposed to reinstall Vista on to the computer?

Could you post the full model number (1) and P/N (2) from the Service Tag attached to bottom of laptop?

Btw, if you have an AMD processor the drivers in Part 2 of the XP Downgrade Guide should work well for you. If you have Intel processor, there are drivers that work too.

1-You can Contact HP to order a Recovery Disk set for around $20.
2-As I mentioned above drivers in Part 2 of the XP Downgrade Guide will work for your model.Nvidia chipset will install ethernet driver. For audio you need MS UAA and Conexant sound driver.
3-If you still have the extra partition(Recovery) it works sometimes to make it active and reboot to reinstall Vista.
1.Right-click on "Computer" icon and select manage.
2.This will launch the Microsoft Management Console.
3.On the left side of the MMC, click on "Disk Management" and it will show you all of the partitions.
4.Right-click on the "HP Recovery" partition and select "Mark as Active Partition."
5.When the warning prompt appears, select "Yes" - Reboot and it will automatically boot into the Recovery Manager.
