Re: How do I get back Microsoft Office 2010 Starter? It's OEM software and none of the fixes work

Hi:

HP doesn't have anything to do with it. It's Microsoft.

They must have crippled the install. Why they haven't completely removed it, is beyond me.

Why they just don't offer it as a free download is beyond me.

If they want people to buy a version of Office, they have made it difficult by only allowing one installation of Office 2010.

Lots of folks make mistakes and uninstall things, or have to do a system recovery, or even buy a new hard drive.

It doesn't appear there is anything we can do about it.

Microsoft Starter 2010 came installed on my G6 Pavilion Notebook and has been working fine.  I did do a system restore.  I have tried the repair procedure in the control panel.  Now when I launch Microsoft Starter 2010, it "hangs up".  Apparently, there is no fix.  Thanks for your help.

Hi, Mike:

I like this free office suite. Looks and works a lot like MS Office and you can open, edit and save MS Office files.

Just a line to say that I followed the advice of one of the posters and logged on to the download crew website and the fix works. Don't know how I lost the Office starter 2010 but now it's fixed. Thank you for postin the link. Brilliant

Re: How do I get back Microsoft Office 2010 Starter? It's OEM software and none of the fixes work

HI Guys,

I agree it is frustrating not able to get back the starter edition that was pre-loaded with your PC. I too faced the same problem when upgraded to Windows 8. It does not support nor it is pre-loaded with Win 8 and I have left with no choice other than purchasing 2010 Suite. Also, there is an offer for a free upgrade to the next version if we purchase now.

Well, if you running the windows 7 still, the office starter is hidden within your windows drive (C:smileyhappy:. When I had an issue on Windows 7 I reinstalled the pack from here.

On HP pc, you can find it under C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\OEMOffice14\OStarter\en-us

Please enable the hidden folders before your search. Just run "SetupConsumerXXXXX" depending on 32-bit or 64-bit and also "click2RunXX".

And under Control Panel, you can find "Click-to-run Application Manager". Just double click that to load the office starter edition. I'm on Windows 8 or else I could have shared a screenshot.

Hope it works for you on Windows 7. I guess it does work on Vista with SP though I've not tried.

Note: there is a folder within OEMOffice14 for the Suite edition. So you can take a back up of the entire folder if you like to purchase the suite in future. So no need to download it again.

Thanks,

Sunil
