How to Install Ubuntu In pavilion dv6 laptop

Hi All ,

I have HP pavilion dv6 laptop with internal SATA hard drive (hitachi HTS725032A9A364). I tried installing ubuntu in my laptop, but am not able to succeed.

I have tried to install ubuntu-11.04-desktop-amd64. mine is 64 bit processor, with 3gb ram,

any idea, i am only getting blank screen after booting ubuntu and after entering install ubuntu i get black blank screen.

I tried to install ubuntu as a application inside windows, but i am not getting it to work.

Thanks in advance....

Re: How to Install Ubuntu In pavilion dv6 laptop

How exactly do you install Ubuntu? Using wubi or a proper fresh install? The black screen means that your graphics card is not compatible with the xorg.conf file on Ubuntu. It's mostly related to the screen resolution - graphics card and how the system handle it.

Create a set of recovery disks before you start doing things like this. You never know when you going to need it..:smileyhappy:

Re: How to Install Ubuntu In pavilion dv6 laptop

Hi, I've been attempting to do the same things, I've tried it with ubuntu, and fedora, and neither will work!  I have the black screen issue on this computer, do you know how to fix that?I've been trying to run it off of a dvd or flash drive but I can't get that to work either.  Thanks for the help if you get this!!
