Re: Hp G60 Notebook wont turn on

Hi,

Try a Hard Reset as follows.

Shut down the notebook, unplug the AC Adapter and then remove the battery.  Hold  down the Power button for 30 seconds.  Re-insert the battery, plug in the AC Adapter and see if the notebook will start.

If the above doesn't help, can you post back with the following.

1.  The full Model No. and Product No. of the notebook ( from the service tag underneath your notebook ) - see Here for a further explanation.

2.  The full version of the operating system you are using ( ie Windows 7 32bit ).

Regards,

Re: Hp G60 Notebook wont turn on

This worked like a charm for me. Why does this happen and what does the hard reset do? Thanks.

Re: Hp G60 Notebook wont turn on

[ Edited ]

I tried what was suggested on the boards, pulling out AC adapter, removing battery, pressing and holding down the start button for 30 sec. then replacing battery and plugging back in the AC adapter. My computer still wont start. Anything else I can try. I have a HP G60 laptop.

My product number is VM093UA#ABA

model G60-508US

Windows 7

I can not start my computer even after I tried a hard reset.

any help greatly appreciated.

Re: Hp G60 Notebook wont turn on

I have had several HP G60 lap tops with this same identical problem in my shop over the last few months.

The only solution i was able to find was to remove the battery and unplug the power supply.

Press the power button for 5 seconds.

Plug power supply back in, turn computer on, and last re-install battery.  The battery cannot be in the computer when you start it.

This will have to be done every time the computer is turned off.

I do not know what the root problems is, as it seems to be a issue with the motherboard power circuit, but this procedure at least gives you functionality back.

Re: Hp G60 Notebook wont turn on

I have the same issue. I tried all of the listed troubleshooting but nothing worked. After reading all of the posts i decided to give HP a call since this seems to be a defect. I called and spoke to Jasmine who said that since my laptop was out of warranty she could not help me unless i paid for support. I explained that i had already read all of the posts and tried all of the suggestions but nothing worked. I asked if there was any way she could check if this is a "known issue". Again I got the same response. I asked if I could speak to a supervisor and was put on hold. During this whole time I had been very understanding,,,never once did I raise my voice or was rude at anytime. When Jasmine came back on the line she informed me that the manager, Esfem, refused to take the call because my laptop was out of warranty. I stopped Jasmine to make sure that I understood her correctly, which I did. Jasmine continued to state that she will be happy to assist me...for a fee. I informed her how unprofessional it was for the manager not to take my call and that this was poor customer service. She agreed and provided me the number the corp office. I will be calling them tomorrow morning. If anyone else would like to call them to express your unhappiness with the G60, feel free to call them at 650-857-1501. Because of this experience with a faulty laptop and bad customer service... I will never purchase a HP product nor will I recommend the product but will be sure to warn people.

Re: Hp G60 Notebook wont turn on

I have an HP G61
Model # G61-329CA
My computer, I can turn on but it's like it freezes. The screen doesn't come on. It doesn't fully turn on. The light for caps lock keeps flashing. The fans and everything are going. I think it's trying to turn on. I've tried the hard reset every way possible. Nothing happens. Now it did fall on the floor but I was able to use it after that. Then one day it just wouldn't fully turn on. Does anyone know anything that I could do?

Re: Hp G60 Notebook wont turn on

Hello AleeceM,

I understand your will turn on but it will not load to the desktop, is that accurate? I will do all I can to help you resolve this issue.

I would like you to boot into the bios menu and run a couple of test on your hardware. See the directions below in order to do so.

1.       Locate the F10 key on the keyboard.

2.       Turn the computer on and immediately start tapping the F10 key.

3.       If successful you should load into a bios setup screen. (Note to navigate you will need to use the arrow keys only)

4.       Toggle over to diagnostic across the top and run the test that it shows. Please have the ac adapter plugged in because sometimes the test can take some time.

5.       Once done press F9 to setup defaults and F10 to save and exit.

If I have been helpful or if you’d like to say thanks you can click the white star under my name to give me Kudos.  I really appreciate it.

Please respond at your earliest convenience with your test results.

Thanks

Clicking the White Kudos star on the left is a way to say Thanks!

Have a good day.
