Unzip to a folder...use Device Manager.
From Device Manager, right click "Audio Device on High Def Bus",choose Update driver,
No to connect,
Install from a list or specific location,
Select Don't Search, I will choose the driver to install,
For the Hardware Type select 'Show All Devices'
Remove the check from "Show Compatible Hardware" and click on "Have Disk".
Next...browse to the unzipped folder and choose the "WiSVHe5.inf".
Ignore XP when it complains.

Great to hear the drivers worked well for you, thanks for posting back with success. On the Mic issue_did it work in Vista? Mine on DV2810US doesn't work even using the original HP installed Vista.Seems there is a serious flaw in these mics.
A friend has the same model as you and is dual-booting XP & Vista.I will ask him if his works.

The mic feature in conexant 221 for XP was not in the perfect condition due to
To to configure?
Go to control panel, double click Sounds and Audio Device, Tab to Voice, in voice recording, click volume. You may increase/decrease the volume there.
or
You may just double click sound icon in the task bar, click option and properties, change mixer device to Conexant HD Audio input click OK.
Both steps would bring you to the same recording volume.
If you feel the mic still not load enough, click option and click Advance Controls, youl'll notice a new Advance button, click it.
In other control radio button, click Microphone Boost.
Other option to configure is using Smart Audio in control panel, you may try 3 options that available.
Those options configuration still not in perfect condition for my model (see my sig). Sometimes, I need to raise my voice when I'm doing a voice chatting with my friends.
I had not tested it much with VISTA, my notebook was downgraded to XP at the first day. ![]()

"....Ok, mine (same driver) works fine in XP, using Cyberlink YouCam program to test. However, I needed to go into audio properties in control panel, voice tab, use test hardware to set mic volume & playback volume. That should do it.
If still no luck, have him open 'Smart Audio' icon in control panel, and set to defaults also."
