I have zd 8220us with win7 installed

 My volume control shows a red "X" with message "No audio output device is installed. Is there a way to regain sound? HP does not list any win7 drivers for this laptop.

Hi:

 

Be connected to the internet. Go to the device manager and click on the multimedia audio controller with the little yellow ! mark.

 

Then click on the driver tab. Click on the update driver button. Select the automatic search and maybe Windows update has a compatible W7 audio driver. If it does, it will install automatically after a few moments.

 

If not, please click on the multimedia audio controller again.  This time, click on the Details tab. Now you see a Properties drop down list. Drop down on that and select the second item (Hardware ID's).

 

Post the top string of characters you see in the window.
