I just got a DV7 with windows 64 bit - Slow with 70 processes!!

Hey i just got this lap top and it has a ton of processes in the background that are slowing it up, this computer should be way faster. What dont i need from this list?

You actually needs most of those processes...Why exactly do you think it's slow....what else is going on with the unit?  Also, can you give us the exact model number?

Right now is best time to make a computer run optimally, later on when I get more programs applications and other crap automatically downloaded from the internet its going to slow up. Leaving a computer with extra things running in the background for 5 years and then fixing it is kind of pointless.

It's normal for HP computers. that is all I can tell you.

do you need that much? no, 50 is good for a clean Vista OS. but it is not recommended to try to "optimize" if you do not know what you are doing.

Try running more then 6 gigs of ram. I run 9 gigs on mine, nothing is slow.
