Installing: XP PRO SP3 on a DM1-3100sb - STOP : 0x0000007E error during setup

Hi guys,

I want to install XP on my DM1-3100sb netbook.

First problem: when loading the files the xp setup program gives me a BSOD :

STOP : 0x0000007E

acpi.sys

Any advice guys?

Hi:

That error means you need to install the SATA ACHI driver either at the F6 prompt or by slipstreaming them into a copy of the XP installation disk.

What sata drivers are needed for a DM1-3100sb (AMD brazos chipset) ?

Hi:

I have no idea. I am only familiar with Intel chipsets.

I recommend you start at the AMD support site and see what they have. I know they have SATA ACHI drivers on their site:

I have found the solution.

During setup you have to push F5 and select standard PC. Then it works...

F5 + choosing standard PC is not a good solution since you get only one core running, and you lost power management :-(

true!! I found that also, Now I'm just using Win 7 on this machine..
